THE INDUSTRY FOUR
TIFFAA is an industry-neutral and cross-functional framework architecture. TIFFAA has been conceptualized as an initiative of THE INDUSTRY FOUR, with a motive to create a global and novel industry standardization ecosystem reference guide. TIFFAA is a strategic approach that focuses on aligning an organization's business objectives with its technology, performance management, competence management, strategy management tools & techniques, and center of excellence programs. In the age of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, TIFFAA needs to be adapted to consider the new challenges and opportunities presented by digital transformation.
We have taken this global and novel initiative to build an industry-neutral standardization platform reference. We have built the TIFFAA platform with well-specified core concepts also known as its strategic objectives, which are truly aligned with our vision, mission, and core values. These core concepts / strategic objectives are the foundation pillars of our framework architecture and are defined based on the principle of Continuous Conception. Continuous Conception is a principle, based on which a standard framework enables itself to consistently change by redefining and realigning its Core Concepts / Strategic Objectives in line with evolving industry & society scenarios.
Connecting the Concepts
Connecting the Concepts is our 4th strategic objective which we have considered with a motive, to define a set of procedures and guidelines, by which we can support the enterprises to take the initiative to start their industry 4.0 digitization journey while progressing towards digitalization and digital transformation.
To conclude this core concept, we have defined a core component, named as ti4 Catapult - The Industry Four Catapult.

Digital solutions may enable – in addition to efficiency via automation – new types of innovation and creativity, rather than simply improving and strengthening traditional techniques and procedures. Based on process milestones, we can represent the concept of ti4 Catapult in two phases.
Initiate NOW is a powerful call to action, reminding us that every great achievement begins with a first step—and that initiation is a continual process. Unlike reacting, which is automatic, or responding, which is thoughtful, initiating requires courage, foresight, and a willingness to step into the unknown. Initiation means embracing uncertainty and setting change in motion, often before conditions are perfect. It’s easy to wait for the right moment, but true progress is fueled by those who take action despite obstacles. By committing to initiate, we engage in a cycle of continual beginnings, where each step forward reveals new opportunities and challenges. This proactive approach not only drives personal growth but also inspires others to move from inertia to action, creating a dynamic environment where ideas flourish and transformation becomes possible.
Continuous transformation is the relentless pursuit of innovation, adaptability, and growth, essential for sustained success in today’s dynamic world. It requires a commitment to evolving constantly, embracing change, and exploring new ways to stay ahead. Through continuous transformation, organizations and individuals alike challenge conventional thinking, seek innovative solutions, and remain responsive to shifting market trends and customer needs. This mindset enables resilience, as it encourages ongoing learning and the flexibility to pivot when necessary. By fostering a culture of continuous improvement, organizations ensure that growth is not a one-time achievement but a lasting journey, paving the way for enduring success and relevance in an ever-evolving landscape.

The ti4 Catapult Initiation Phase is centered on innovating Business and Operating Models, marking the initial steps an enterprise takes to transform these foundational aspects. This phase includes four critical milestones: Due Diligence Exploration, which involves a thorough assessment of the current state; Prioritization Matrix, which helps in identifying and ranking key initiatives; Readiness Calculation, which evaluates the organization's preparedness for transformation; and Program Execution, which initiates the actionable steps for implementing the changes. Together, these milestones guide the enterprise through a structured approach to innovation and transformation.
Following are the four milestones of the ti4 Catapult Initiation Phase.
Due Diligence is the very starting point to Learn & Understand the as-it-is situation of an enterprise. It is a 360-degree assessment exercise to evaluate the current enterprise maturity level in various aspects. It involves all the business functions and stakeholders related to the problem statement or motive for the transformation. The outcome of Due Diligence is a holistic picture of the current state of an enterprise.
Due diligence is critical for understanding an enterprise's current situation comprehensively. It involves a thorough 360-degree assessment to evaluate maturity across all functions, stakeholders, and transformation goals, providing a holistic view that guides strategic decisions and transformations effectively.
Prioritization Matrix is about an exercise to identify a portfolio of high-priority Industry 4.0 use cases. Setting priorities for The Industry Four use cases involves thinking through all of the dimensions including but is not limited to, analysis of Due Diligence outcome, Business Priority, Technology, Urgency, Risk, Complexity, Value, Benefits, Impact, RoI, Time & Efforts, Cost factors, and No. of Stakeholders involved.
The Prioritization Matrix is crucial for identifying and ranking high-priority Industry 4.0 use cases. It involves a comprehensive analysis considering factors such as due diligence outcomes, business priorities, technology readiness, urgency, risk, complexity, value, benefits, impact, return on investment (RoI), time, effort, costs, and stakeholder involvement. This exercise ensures strategic alignment and effective resource allocation for maximizing the benefits of digital transformation initiatives.
Readiness Calculations is a crucial step, which is required at primarily two stages of any Industry 4.0 transformation program. One is before the execution of any program to verify the Project Plan and Business Use Case along with all associated factors. The second is launching the program on the ground where we are going to impact our workforce by introducing new processes, ways of working, and tools and our customers by launching new products, features, and services.
Readiness calculations are essential in Industry 4.0 transformation programs, serving two primary stages: verifying project plans and business use cases before execution, and preparing for program implementation. This process ensures alignment of new processes, tools, and products with workforce capabilities and customer expectations, facilitating smooth transitions and maximizing program effectiveness.
This is the next step of The Industry Four transformation program where we execute the transformation program by utilizing the toll and best practices of change management. We can break the execution program into two phases. 1st is the Development Phase, where we develop / Build a solution based on identified priority business use cases and 2nd is the Implementation of the solution and use it in routine Operations based on the principles of DevOps in close loop feedback.
This step in the Industry 4.0 transformation program involves executing the transformation using change management tools and best practices. It includes two phases: the Development Phase, where solutions are built for priority business use cases, and the Implementation Phase, where solutions are deployed using DevOps principles for continuous improvement and feedback. This approach ensures efficient deployment of new technologies and processes, optimizing operational outcomes and enhancing organizational agility.

These milestones ensure sustained innovation and effective transformation of business operations.
Following are the four milestones of the ti4 Catapult Continuation Phase.
Architecture Structure is a holistic representation of the diversified architectures of an enterprise. These different architectures are somewhat influenced by the OSI Layer Model. Aligned with different layers, we have mainly four Architectures, named As Technology Architecture, Data Architecture, Presentation Architecture, and Application Architecture. These many Architectures are connected with each other with an Information flow Architecture.
Architecture structure provides a unified view of an enterprise's varied architectures, influenced by the OSI Layer Model. It encompasses Technology, Data, Presentation, and Application architectures, interconnected through Information Flow Architecture. This holistic approach ensures alignment and integration across different architectural layers, crucial for effective organizational management and technological coherence.
Strategy Formulation representation is highest order Architecture, where we Define the Enterprise-wide Policies & Frameworks for different aspects and contexts. Strategy Formulation is about to Define, Business Vision, Business Mission along with its Core Values. It also outlines the Business Model Architecture along with Operating Model Architecture and interrelation and feedback process between the two.
Strategy formulation represents the highest-level architecture for defining enterprise-wide policies, frameworks, business vision, mission, core values, and business and operating model architectures. It establishes a clear roadmap for aligning organizational goals with operational frameworks, ensuring coherence and effectiveness in strategic decision-making and implementation.
Governance Framework is about supervising, managing, and guiding all the business functions, and the process by defining well-specified goals aligned with strategy and involving specific stakeholders in accordance with their defined responsibilities and accountabilities. Governance Framework suggests establishing the individual governance structure for individual business functions and key business areas and processes.
Governance Framework ensures effective supervision, management, and guidance of all business functions by setting clear, strategy-aligned goals and engaging stakeholders according to their defined responsibilities. It entails establishing tailored governance structures for each business function and key areas, fostering accountability and facilitating efficient decision-making processes throughout the organization.
Center of Excellence is the representation of a team, function, unit, or entity that provides leadership, best practices, research, support, and/or training for a focus area. In The Industry Four Transformation context Center of Excellence focuses on evolving Business Model Innovations and Operations Maturity Model. COE acts as a coordinating function which ensures that change initiatives are delivered consistently and well, through standard processes.
